Uniting sustainability and technology

#technology is a critical enabler to executing an organization’s #sustainability agenda. This interesting article on CIO Online by Diana Bersohn and Sanjay Podder explores how CIOs can unite sustainability and technology. https://lnkd.in/gcn-djJj

The article covers a recent study by Accenture that found that the common challenges to getting started with #sustainableIT are:
Perceived lack of readiness and expertise: 40% of executives surveyed believe that the right solutions are not available or not mature enough, including the availability of the right talent to lead these initiatives.

Complexity and challenges with implementation: 33% of executives surveyed are struggling with the complexity of solutions or with modernizing their legacy systems to be more sustainable.

Awareness and understanding of impact: 20% of executives surveyed are not aware of the unintended consequences of technology or whether the technology they use is sustainable.

These challenges are very similar to my experience of why we as technology leaders are struggling to get started. That is why I decided to write “Sustainable IT Playbook for Technology Leaders” to unveil the “How” and the “What” and empower technology leaders to get started with their #sustainableIT journey. The book is scheduled to be released later this year by Packt Publishing, but it is available for pre-order on Amazon. https://lnkd.in/gjx2ZHKA
